Social Entrepreneurship
Kedge Business School, MACI and Grande Ecole 2018

Social Entrepreneurship

"...currently we practise a minimalist type of citizenship.  A good citizen votes, pays taxes, abides by the law.  Anything beyond that - volunteering, or being helpful to neighbours, or addressing social problems - is considered optional (although it is esteemed).

It is worth asking how modern democracies have evolved to accept individualistic social norms that would cause tribal societes, military units, and sports teams to collapse.

What we need is a collective belief that with citizenship comes a responsibility to serve society.

Impact Finance

"The global emergence of social enterprise challenges the idea that people go into business exclusively to make money.  In Creating a World without Poverty, Muhummad Yunus contends that by reducing humans to "one dimensional" profit seekers, economic theory has produced a "narrow" interpretation of capitalism which has failed to "capture the essence of a human being".  It has blinded people to other uses of business."
